NRCS Soil Health Training

Building capacity of local conservation professionals is one of the top priorities for MOSH. We collaborate with MN NRCS and MN BWSR to provide formal soil health training opportunities to NRCS, BWSR, and SWCD staff.  In 2019, Cates helped deliver the NRCS Soil Health Course to about ~130 people over the 3-day field and classroom trainings at 4 locations across the state.

Coming October 12th: How do crop advisors do conservation?

Ever wondered how to engage the private ag consulting world on soil conservation practices? Tune in to a webinar from the Minnesota Office for Soil Health on Wednesday, October 12, from 9:00-10:15 am, to discuss the findings of recent interviews with MN crop advisors who work with conservation practices. Participants will learn what difficulties and opportunities crop advisors see for increasing adoption of practices like reduced tillage and cover crops. A moderated discussion will follow to discuss how local government and agency employees can better engage with private retail or independent crop consultants to promote and implement conservation practices across Minnesota.
